Sunrise Mountain High School Named as Winner of Second GAMA/Build A Plane STEM Competition

Washington, DC—The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) and Build A Plane announced today that the Formula X team from Sunrise Mountain High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, is the winner of the second Aviation Design Challenge to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) skills among U.S. high school students. Four students, a teacher, and a chaperone from the high school will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Glasair Aviation in Arlington, Washington, to build a real Glasair Sportsman airplane from June 16-28, 2014.

1654 Planes in the Business Jet Fleet of Our Country in 2013, 23.2% More Than the Year Before

General Aviation Development Report 2013 officially reveals, by 2013, registered total number of planes in the Business Jet Fleet of Our Country by the end of 2013 is 1654, 23.2% more than the year before. Among them are 1239 fixed wing planes, 385 rotor planes, 24 balloons, and 6 airships. 291 general aviation vehicles have been approved by the Civil Aviation Administration to be imported, and 60 vehicles have been written off.
