GAMA applauds EASA's move to simplify standard changes and repairs

Brussels – The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) praised the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)’s decision to adopt Certification Specifications for Standard Changes & Standard Repairs (CS-STAN). The long-awaited approach will simplify the process of making standard changes and repairs to a broad swath of general aviation (GA) aircraft in Europe.

Chef Homeschoolers win 3rd GAMA/Build a Plane Stem Competition

Washington, DC—The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) and Build A Plane announced today that the CHEF Homeschoolers in Cuba City, Wisconsin won the third Aviation Design Challenge to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) knowledge among U.S. high school students. Four students, one teacher, and one chaperone from the high school will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Glasair Aviation in Arlington, Washington to build a Glasair Sportsman airplane from June 8-19, 2015.

German AOPA happy with energy tax clarification

Germany’s finance ministry confirmed in an e-mail to AOPA Germany on 26 January that, as of 1 February, operators of certain flights previously categorized from a tax perspective as for leisure can request exemption from energy tax for certain flights where they involve private business flights, but restricted “for internal company purposes.” As this decision is based on the EU energy taxation directive, it does also have an impact for the rest of Europe.

China-US General Aviation Cooperation Welcomes New Beginning

In the morning of April 15, 2015, which is the second day of ABACE 2015,Ms. Wang Xia, Director-General of General Aviation Committee of China Air Transportation Association, had a face-to-face meeting with Mr. Geoffrey Jackson, Executive Director of US-China Aviation Cooperation Program (ACP), at Textron’s VIP room in the exhibition venue.  Both parties saw great cooperation potentials and believed specific programs to be the starting point of cooperation. ABACE 2015 Student Day: Youth and Dream

The Student Day held on April 16 brought a perfect ending to ABACE 2015.

The forums of the Student Day were held by NBAA and AsBAA. Ed Bolen, President of NBAA, Xia Xinhua, President of China Civil Airport Association and former Deputy Director of China Civil Aviation Administration, Charlie Mularski, Chairman of AsBAA , and many general aviation industry leaders were present at the forums.

China launches low-altitude airspace trial operation in 3 cities

Wang Zhiqing, deputy director with the Civil Aviation Administration of China, disclosed at the opening ceremony of ABACE 2015 on April 14 that Shangyang, Hainan and one city in West China have opened their low-altitude airspace below 1000 meters for trial operation to develop the nation's general aviation industry and to meet the rising general aviation demands.

"China so far has 211 business and private jets operated by some 24 companies, or a 19 percent increase compared with last year," Mr. Wang said so at the opening ceremony of ABACE 2015.

First Aviation and Shipment Integrated Trading Center in the Country Officially Opened

Qianhai Aviation and Shipment Trading Center (abbreviated “Qianhai Trading Center”), the first aviation and shipment integrated aviation and shipment trading center, officially opened in Qianhai, Shenzhen on August 12th.


Qianhai Trading Center was approved by Office of Finance, Shenzhen Municipal Government in January of 2014, with a registered capital of 0.1 billion RMB, co-invested by major financing companies, aviation companies and ship manufacturing companies domestic and abroad.

Low Altitude Airspace Opening-up and Expanding, Beijing and Lanzhou to Become Pilot Sites

5 areas including Beijing and Lanzhou have submitted execution plan.


After the pilot sites of Changchun and Guangzhou, the low altitude airspace management reform pilot sites are expected to expand. Previously related authorities have been collecting feedbacks and planning to expand the pilot sites to major military regions beyond Changchun and Guangzhou. Currently 5 regions including Beijing and Lanzhou have already submitted their respective pilot site planning and execution strategy.
